“It isn’t what we say or think that defines us, but what we do.” – Sense and Sensibility.
A New Year brings a fresh start and a lot of resolutions.
The queen of to-do lists, I would have no problem making a list of all of the things I would love to do differently this year. I could probably add to it on the daily.
Resolutions have the potential to be great – as long as we can take the resolute thoughts and words and turn them into actions.
I can say all the right things, I can think all the right things… But when it comes down to actually DOING those things, I tend to fall short.
It is so easy to ignore those “right things”, to remain ignorant. I’m guilty of it almost everyday. It is the hardest to wake up and say, I’m going to DO something today and REALLY do something.
The first step to change is acknowledging there is something to be changed I guess. Maybe this means I’ve already started “doing”.
So this year – my resolution is not to make a list of resolutions.
If anything, this year, I want to spend my time DOING. I waste too much precious time thinking and saying, and, with the arrival of our two newest little ones, this is time that I don’t want to spare.
This year – let’s see an abundance of fruit. Forget bare branches, let me use the gifts I’ve been given and yield as much fruit as I can… and I don’t mean more babies.
Enough thinking, enoughing saying, more doing.
Happy New Year!
